Two ore carts were brought to Llano County from a gold mine in Colorado. The carts were on a track to remove ore from the mine for processing.
This gear was recovered from a mine that operated from 1896 through 1915. They started mining gold and then graphite. About 60 pits with drifts and crosscuts were dug. The winch gear was used to remove the ore from the mines. The mine was closed in the early 1940’s.
